The hole spans 300 meters across and plunges 125 meters deep. The waters are incredibly clear, allowing you to spot reef sharks, bull sharks, and even hammerheads. A full-day, three-tank dive costs around $300 USD, but it’s worth every penny for the chance to experience this natural wonder.
2. Thailand
Thailand offers a ton of fantastic dive spots, with Ko Tao, Phuket, and the Similan Islands being the top locations. If you’re new to diving, Ko Tao is an affordable and popular place to get certified. Dive shops cater to all levels, and you can get your Open Water certification for about $350 USD. A single-tank dive costs less than $50 USD, while full-day trips are around $75 USD.
3. Gili Islands, Indonesia
The Gili Islands are a diver’s dream. Located near Bali, these islands offer crystal-clear waters and healthy, vibrant reefs. The diving here is cheaper than in Bali, making it an attractive option. An Open Water certification costs around $420 USD, single-tank dives are about $40 USD, and full-day trips are $60 USD.
4. Sipadan, Malaysia
Sipadan is often ranked among the world’s top five dive sites. Known for its incredible marine life, you’ll find turtles, sharks, dolphins, schools of fish, and colorful coral here in abundance. It’s one of my favorite dive spots in Southeast Asia. Keep in mind that permits are limited, so it’s a good idea to book in advance. Multi-day tours, including three dives, typically cost around $500 USD.
5. Great Barrier Reef, Australia
The Great Barrier Reef needs no introduction. Stretching over 350,000 square kilometers, it’s the world’s largest reef system and a paradise for divers. Despite the challenges posed by climate change, it’s still an unforgettable place to visit. I had the chance to dive here, and it was incredible—even though a fish decided to poop in front of me!

Hawaii is another amazing diving destination. Hawaii is often overlooked by divers heading abroad, but it’s a hidden gem that should definitely be on your list.

Micronesia is an ideal spot for those seeking unspoiled dive sites. The region is known for its vibrant coral reefs and numerous World War II wrecks. One of the best dive sites here is Blue Corner. The diving is pristine and affordable, with single-tank dives around $110 USD and two-tank dives costing about $200 USD.
8. Boracay, Philippines
Boracay in the Philippines is a tropical paradise, and it’s also an excellent place to dive. The waters here are teeming with life, from eels and clownfish to rich reef systems. It’s the most popular diving spot in the Philippines for a reason, and when you’re done exploring the underwater world, you can relax on the beautiful beaches.
9. Fernando de Noronha, Brazil
Located off the coast of Brazil, Fernando de Noronha is a lesser-known but world-renowned diving spot. The clear blue waters are home to turtles, dolphins, and a variety of marine life. The Corveta V 17 wreck is one of the most famous wreck sites in the world. With limited visitors allowed, it’s a more serene and exclusive experience. Two-tank dives here cost around $200 USD.
10. Egyptian Red Sea
The Red Sea offers some of the clearest water you’ll find, with vibrant reefs and incredible underwater life. You can dive at numerous sites, including the famous wrecks at Sha’ab Abu Nuhas and the Thistlegorm. The water is warm year-round, and the diving is budget-friendly, with two-tank dives available for under $75 USD.
